After 2 weeks school holidays, I started school from this Monday. And I've got 2 assignments for 2 weeks subject which is about...... Support Children's rights and Safety within duty of care. Actually this subject is a little bit heavy........ 'cause it's about child abuse...

One assignment is written assignment, the other one is....... group presentation again. But I got great partners, Klaudia & Tomomi.

Today, Barbara gave us time to prepare for the presentation due on next Thursday so that I and Klaudia (Tomomi was absent!!) started researching about our presentation 'domestic violence' on the Internet.

When we were searching web sites one after another, we came across one quote with my favourite picture which was written by Albert Einstein.

It's the above.

"Miracle" - a lucky thing that happens that you didn't expect or think was possible.

I like the word, "Miracle".

And..... my favourite perfume is called "Miracle" :-)))

The 1st Anniversary

丁度１年前の今日、２００７年４月１６日、今通ってるカレッジが始まった日、そしてAniaと初めて出逢った日でもあります。
It is exactly 1 year ago, 16th April 2007, that I started my school and I met Ania for the first time at school.

あれから１年、まさに光陰矢の如し・・・・・
One year have passed since then, just like "Time flies........"

もともと１年で帰国予定だった私のシドニー生活ももうすぐ２年になろうとしてます。
I was supposed to go back to Japan after my stay here for 1 year but it's almost 2 years in May.

シドニーでの私の生活は日本の生活、もちろんトロントでの生活とも全然違ったものになっていて、２年目になろうとしている今、ようやく地に足をつけて一歩一歩、前に進んでる気がしています。かなりスローペースですが・・・・ いつもの事なので。。。。マイペース、マイペース。
My life here is totally different from that in Japan, also that in Toronto but I feel that now I can take a step forward after 2 years staying here......　Actually it's very very slow pace though....　anyway I'm always slow to realize what I..... have to do....... so that it is ok for me. Just keep my pace.

それから、私のここでの生活はもう少し長くなりそうです。
And..... My stay here is going to be a little bit longer.

New Born Babies

After Easter, we've got some chick eggs in my childcare centre. It is wonderful experience that children will learn how chicks form and hatch from eggs, also they will long remenber!

There were 3 eggs left in incubator today. One hatched last Friday, then 2 eggs stated hatching, breaking thier shells today!!

I took children to the perschool room where the incubator and cage for new born chicks were placed, they were so excited, their eyes were glued to baby chiks!! So I took one chick from the cage and let children touch it. Baby chick was very FLUFFY!!!

Actually I've never had a chance to see a chick hatch.

It is good experience to me as well :)

Something Special

もうすぐ３月も終わり。ここシドニーは日に日に朝晩は肌寒くなってきてはいるものの、今日は最後の夏を惜しむかのように青空が広がる良い天気でした。
It's almost April!! Although It's getting cold here day by day, the blue sky extended as far as the eye could see today. It was lovely day.

取り急ぎ、溜まり気味のアサイメントを少し終らせてから午後３時過ぎ、本と水を片手にテクテクとバルモラルビーチへ降りて行きました。バルモラルビーチへの散歩&読書は毎週末恒例の日課。天気が良ければだけど。。。。。
I just needed to speed up my assignment 'cause I am 5 or 6 behind with my assignment. Of course I couldn't finish all of them but could a little bit. So it's time to go down hills!! I grabbed a book & bottle of water, then took a walk to the Balmoral beach. It's a kind of my routine to take a walk & read books there on weekends if the weather is nice........

この数ヶ月、ビーチへ行く度に、いつも決まった場所で１人絵を描いている男性が居て、見た目は６５歳くらいかな？いつもは通りすがりにどんな絵を描いてるんだろう・・・？と思いながらも近寄って見ることはしなかったけど、今日に限ってはおじいちゃんの方から二コリと笑いかけられたので思わず近寄って話しかけてみました。
Every time I went to the beach, there was an old man, looks like over 65yo, drawing picture at the same place. I always went past him even I was very curious to have a look his pictures. I'm too shy to see close at hand:) But today was different. The old man smiled me when I was passing through so that I came to him and start chatting.

おじいちゃんの名前はTony, 普段はアートスクールで絵を教えているらしく、彼も毎週末天気が良ければここへ来て絵を描いてると言っていて、今日も既に5枚の絵を描き終えていました。私には絵を描くというセンスが全く持ってないから、絵を描く人は私にとっては別世界の人の様に映ってしまう。
His name is Tony, he told me that he teaches at an Art school for kids and adults, also comes to the beach to draw every weekends if the weather is nice. He already drew 5 pictures on the spot today. I have no sense of drawing so that I think Artists are person who live in another world!!

かれこれ２０分ほど色んなことを話した後、彼が書いた絵の中で何か見覚えのある景色の絵があって、それは私のアパートのリビングルームから見える景色と同じ絵。
After our chatting for about 20 minutes, I noticed one his picture was very familiar to me because it was exactly the same picture which I could see from the window of my living room.

思わず、『これって売ってもらえますか？』と、とっさに聞いてしまったほど親近感のある絵で、おじいちゃんは『もちろん！気に入ってくれて嬉しいよ！』とニッコリ笑って答えてました。
I've found something congenial in that picture so that I asked him if I could buy it instantly. He said "Of course! I'm glad you like it!" with his smile.

私はその絵を買って、最後に『もしおじいちゃんのギャラリーがあるなら行きたいんだけど・・・・』って聞いたら、『僕のギャラリーはここ、青空の下だよ！』とニッコリ笑って言ってました。
So I bought the picture and I asked him if he had his own gallery near by. Because I would like to go. He said "Here is my gallery as you know! Under the blue sky!" with his cute smile.

きっと素敵なおじいちゃんなんだろうな。
He is such a lovely grandpa :)

Easter Feast

今日はフラットメイトのAniaのお兄ちゃん夫婦の家でポーランドの伝統的なイースター・ブレックファーストに招待されて行ってきました。Ania曰く、ポーランドではクリスマスよりもイースターのお祝いの方が重要でイースターの日曜日の朝は家族揃って伝統料理を食べて、その日は一日食べて飲んで・・・イースターをお祝いするそうです。

Ania invited me to go to her brother's house for Polish Traditional Easter Breakfast today. Ania told me that Easter is more important than Christmas and it's very traditional thing that all family members get together on Easter Sunday morning to have a big Easter Breakfast. On this day, people just keep eating & drinking all day in Poland!

沢山のポーランドの伝統的な料理とケーキが用意されてて、
朝１０時から始まった朝食が終ったのは午後２時。
私のお腹ははちきれそうなほど満腹になって、帰ってきました。

There were lots of Polish food and cakes. The breakfast started at 10:00am, then finished at 2:00pm. I had had more than enough!! I'm still full now!!

日本ではもちろんイースターを祝う習慣がないから、
今日は何か新鮮で特別な一日でした。

We don't have the custom of celebrating Easter in Japan, of course, so that it was something special & new for me today.

家族が側に居るAniaがちょっと羨ましくも思った一日でした。

And I felt a little bit envy Ania being close to her family here.....
and miss my family.

Good Friday

今日からイースターホリデーで４連休。
The Easter holidays just started.

このホリデー中は仕事もアサイメントもしないと決めて、
のんびりな４日間にしようと思ってます。
I decided that I wouldn't work and do any assignment during this long weekends, just wanna be free from all care this time.

そして今日はＧｏｏｄ　Ｆｒｉｄａｙ。
Then it's Good Friday today.

お店もどこも休み、生憎天気も曇り空、そのせいもあってとにかく静かな休日。
All shops are closed, also it's cloudy sky, unfortunately,
so that it's very very quiet around here.

一日中家でのんびり好きな事をして時間を過ごす、そんなＧｏｏｄ　Ｆｒｉｄａｙです。
I spend my nice and quiet time in reading and cooking at home all day long.

Such a big capsicum!

It took me long time to cut it into tiny pieces for vege soup.

Friend

『友達』のホントの意味を知りたくなったから辞書を引いてみた。

I really wanted to know the true meaning of "Friend",
so that I looked up the word in a dictionary.

『あたなが良く知っていて好きな人, 通常家族以外の人』と書いてあった。

It's said "Friend" is a person you like.
A person you know well and like,
and who is not usually a member of your family.

一緒に居てホッと安心できる友達とずっと友達でいられたらいいなと思う。

I have friends who make me feel relieved,
I just hope I can be with them from this time on.

He was my best friend :)

空を見上げる時

空を見上げたら、何か答えが見つかるんじゃないかと、

ついつい見上げてしまう時がある。

I sometime look up at the blue sky in spite of myself.

先週土曜日、シドニーで最大規模のクリスマスチャリティーイベントCarols in the Domainを見に行ってきました。人ごみが嫌いな私ですが、結構楽しみました。。。。。



みんなシート広げて昼間から陣取り、飲んでワイワイやってた様で、私達は夕方６時頃到着、用意の良い友達がシャンパンと私の誕生日も兼ねてケーキを持参。私達も飲んで食べて、ワイワイしてきました。

After raining

夏だというのに、まるで梅雨のように毎日雨が降るシドニー。
数ヶ月前、今年は猛暑になるとニュースで言っていたのに、おかしいですねぇ、、、、

昨日もドカ雨が降りました。
雨が止んだ後、さっきの雨は何だったん？
と、言わんばかりのキレイな夕焼け空がお目見えしました。

そこで、思わず一枚。

Felt Board Story

絵本を一冊選んで、ストーリーに沿ってフェルトでストーリーボードを作りクラスでプレゼンテーションするというもの。

私が選んだのは Eric Carle の『The Mixed-Up Chameleon』。

エリック・カールは日本でももちろん、全世界で人気の児童絵本作家。

Summary:

A small chameleon that lands on everything and it changes its colors. It lands on the flowers and it changes to red. Then it gets on a tree and it turns brown, something like that. But the chameleon's life was not very exciting until the day it discovered it could change not only by color but also by shapes and size.

小さなカメレオン、体の色を変えることができるカメレオン。キレイな花の上に止まれば赤に、木に止まれば茶色に。それは彼にとって特別な事ではなく、むしろ日常の生活に退屈していたカメレオン。

One day, the chameleon saw a zoo. He saw many beautiful animals and he wished he could be like all the animals...... he thought. His wishes came true!

ある日、カメレオンは動物園に行く事に。。。。。今まで見たことの無い美しい動物がたくさん。カメレオンは色んな動物になれたらなぁと思った。そしてカメレオンの願いは叶ったのです。

"I wish I could be handsome like a flamingo."

もしフラミンゴみたいにハンサムになれたら。

"I wish I could swim like a fish."
もし魚みたいに泳げたら。


"I wish I could hide in a shell like a turtle."

もしカメみたいに甲羅に隠れられたら。

But it was only when he couldn't catch a small fly as he was very mixed-up. But he was very hungry. It was a little of this and a little of that, so that he wishes he could be 'myself'.

願いは叶ったけれど、カメレオンはごちゃまぜになりすぎて、すごくお腹が減っているのに小さなハエを捕まえる事ができなくなってしまい。。それはちょっとしたことなんだけど。。。。そしてカメレオンは気付いたのです。

『自分にもどりたい』と。

His wish came true and caught a fly!
願いは叶い、ハエを捕まえる事ができました。

So, it is important to be yourself!

Five Little Snowmen

Christmas is coming soon.

Five Little Snowmen are waiting for Santa Claus.

学校の実習課題で、何かアクティビティーを用意して子供に提供して観察するというのがあって、私が用意したのが『Cotton ball snowman』。ま、私のアイディアな訳が無く、インターネットで見つけたアクティビティーですがね。。。（ちょっと私のアレンジ加わってるのでOK。ネットでは目やボタンは何故かポップコーンに色を塗ったものを使うって書いてた、、、、）

とにかく、白い紙に大小２つの丸を描いて、丸の中だけノリを塗る。綿を満遍なく貼って、あとは私が前もってフエルトを切って用意してきた目（黒の丸）とボタン（カラフルな丸）、細長い赤は口、それとバケツ、あとは目を作った時のあまりの端切れは周りのデコレーション用に、、、と思ったのだけれど、、、、、、

赤や緑の目、より目に離れ目。バケツは1人1枚と思っていたのに、やたら外周に貼りまくる、ちょっと目を離したらボタンだらけ・・・・・

Give them choices.......　私は、『これも芸術・・・・』と、個性豊かに雪だるまが出来上がっていくのを見てました。

４歳のIsabellaは自分で名前を書くと言って、書いたのだけど、、、、、何か違う・・・？？？左利きの彼女はアルファベットの書き順がごちゃまぜになってるのです。。。

Go downhill・・・

やっと週末、ようやく今日は一日OFF。

今週はずっと雨＆曇り空の１週間、昨日の晩もスゴイ雷と雨で、今日も天気はイマイチかと思いきや、雲ひとつない快晴に恵まれた一日でした。

朝起きて、あまりの天気の良さに、珍しく『よし、今日はビーチだなっ！』と思い立ち(未だかつて、起きてビーチへ行こうと思い立った事は無い）、バスタオルと水、とりあえずアサイメントのワークブックもかばんに突っ込んでテクテクと坂道を下ってバルモラルビーチへ。。。。

すると、ビーチ近くの公園でイベントをやっていて、スゴイ人だかり。たまたま私の横を通り過ぎたセキュリティーのお兄さんが『That's the wine festival over there! You should go for tasting wines! hehehe.』といきなり話しかけてきて、最後は不気味に笑ってたのが怖かったけど、とにかくワインフェスタ、どうやらハンターバレーのワインが集められてて試飲（もちろん有料）できるという事だったらしい。


みんな片手にワイングラス、ワインだけじゃなく、チーズ、マッスルやその他シーフード料理のブースもあって、みんな『飲めや歌えや』状態で大変賑わっておりました。

私はそれをよそ目に、ビーチの方へテクテク、テクテク。

いいあんばいの木陰を見つけて、バスタオルを広げてゴロリン。一応アサイメントも広げてみたものの、やる気、出るわけが無い。。。。。

ワークブックはかばんにしまってゴロゴロ、ゴロゴロ。
